We are currently recruiting for two volunteer placements in the office.

Volunteer Summer Internship

Are you looking to begin your career in international development and ready for a challenge?

We are looking for an organised and outgoing intern to work with us part-time over the summer.
You will be working hand-in-hand with a small and very agile team in the London head office and as such the internship will be a fantastic opportunity to ground yourself in the basics of charity day-to-day administration, communication and fundraising.  

You will help us in the office with day-to-day administration, engaging with our individual supporters and assist with project fundraising applications to UK Trusts and Foundations. You will be working  alongside the Director, Projects Manager and other volunteers

Specific tasks will include:
Helping with the day to day running of the office, including communication with enquirers and supporters
Regularly updating the Action Village India website
Supporting staff with fundraising to trusts and foundations through conducting research and assisting with the development of proposals
Assisting with the production and printing of leaflets, appeals and fundraising materials
Liaising with designers and printers
Assisting with the distribution of mailings; appeals, newsletter and membership
Managing online donations to the organisation
Supporting AVI fundraising events
Contributing to other charity activities as part of a small dynamic team
 
We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible and to work with us through to August. It is a 6-10 week position, working 14-21 hours per week.

Compensation details
This is a voluntary internship. AVI will cover travel expenses(from within London) to the AVI office in Dalston and for necessary travel out of London.  AVI will also cover lunch costs for days worked in the office. 

There is the potential of ongoing paid employment for the right candidate.

Summer Volunteer Internship - Events and Festivals

Are you an ambitious and enthusiastic team player looking to gain broad charity experience in a small London based charity?



Are you looking to begin your career in international development and ready for a challenge? Come and join our team!

We are looking for an organised and outgoing intern to work with us part-time over the summer primarily with us in the lead up to our flagship fundraising event of the year, Madras Café, held at Womad Festival at the end of July.

You will be working hand-in-hand with a small and very agile team in the London head office and as such the internship will be a fantastic opportunity to ground yourself in the basics of charity day-to-day administration, communication and event fundraising.  You will also get involved in supporting other fundraising events such as our runners in the Virgin 10K. 

The Madras Café began its life as a Chai and leaflet stall 25 years ago to help educate people about Action Village India and the difficulties people in rural India faced, today it is an established festival institution serving delicious Indian food to over 3500 people over three days. You will assist with the organisation of the Action Village India information desk and exhibition at Madras Cafe, 2017 and provide liaison between and support to Action Village India and the established Madras Café team, who work under the banner of Sensetrade, AVI’s trading subsidiary.

In the lead up to Madras Café you feed into the event communications, press and audience engagement strategy as well as help organise the front of house desk for AVI. You will also assist with photographic exhibition hanging, stall set up and pack up and analysis and follow up to the event in August.

You will need to be available over the weekend of 27th - 30th July to go to Womad! Your ticket will be free, as a thanks for all your help.
